Emre Aykar

Emre Aykar, President CICA

Emre Aykar was born on 1946 in Istanbul. After finishing high school at Lycee de Galatasaray, he earned his BSc. degree in Engineering from Robert College Engineering School and then his MSc Civil Engineering degree from Bosphorus University in Istanbul.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Emre Aykar started his professional life in the private sector in which he was the Project Director of several projects of Yapı Merkezi Construction Company.

After a 8 years Project Director period at Yapı Merkezi, Aykar was promoted to the Assistant General Manager position and after that to the CEO position and lately to the Chairman position of Yapı Merkezi Construction Company.

He has been a part of quite number of construction Projects and has been responsible in the management of those projects; some of which are; İstanbul Light Metro (20 km), Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorous, El Mek Nimir and Al Halfaia Bridges in Khartoum Sudan, Dubai metro (75 km), Casablanca Tramway (20 km) Algeria Bir Touta-Zeralda Railroad (20 km), Ethiopia Awash-Weldia railway (380 km), Algeria Sidi Bel Abbes (17 km) and Setif (23 km) Tramways, Irmak-Zonguldak Railroad (415 km) etc.

Presently, he is a Board Member of Yapı Merkezi Holding Company, Chairman of SUBOR GRP Pipe Production Company and Chairman of Freysaş Yapı Systems Company.

Emre Aykar, also takes place in the boards of many local and international platforms:
He is currently the President of the Confederation of International Contractors’ Associations since 2018, he is the Chairman of Turkish- Algerian Business Council of Turkish Foreign Economic Board since 2006, Vice President of FIEC, European Construction Industry Federation and Vice President of Turkish Constructors Association.

Emre Aykar, has many social membership: Higher Council member of Galatasaray Sport Club, member of Robert College Alumni, member of Bosphorus University Alumni, member of Kriton Curi Environmental Foundation, member of Bosphorus University Engineering school advisory Council.

Emre Aykar is married with one daughter. He is fluent in English and French language.
